Ineos Acrylics Announces New Thermoformable, Laser-Cuttable Film Masking for Lucite^® Acrylic Sheet

 

  Memphis, Tenn., Wednesday February 2, 2000 -- Ineos Acrylics Inc. (formerly ICI Acrylics) announces a new generation of thermoformable, laser-cuttable film masking for its Lucite^® CP and Lucite^® L brands of acrylic sheet products.  Unlike typical film masking, which must be removed prio r to heating, the superior new masking on Lucite^® acrylic sheet can remain on the acrylic to protect the sheet during and after heating processes.  Utilizing advanced, exclusive technology, the new protective film masking on Lucite^® acrylic sheet will not bubble during normal thermoforming, line-bending or laser-cutting.  Afterwards, it can be easily removed without sticking or melting.

  “The new thermoformable film masking provides excellent protection for Lucite^® sheet during heating operations,” explains Al Brown, Ineos Acrylics’ Technical Manager.  “And, it’s actually stronger and more resistant to scratches or puncturing than standard film masking used on other acrylic sheet.”  A further benefit of the new technology film is reduced friction, which decreases sawdust and enables easier sheet handling for Lucite^® acrylic sheet users.
